Lead Engineer — Plant 3D Design
This is a build-it-from-zero role, and we are not pretending otherwise. We have the licences, the projects and twenty years of engineering behind us. What we do not yet have is the person who sets up the environment and leads the team that works inside it.
The role
You will own the Plant 3D environment end to end — project setup, piping specifications, catalogues, ISO styles, ortho configuration and data management. This is the work that determines whether every subsequent project runs cleanly or bleeds rework for six months.
Beyond the environment, you will build and maintain our specification and equipment catalogue library for the process equipment we see repeatedly; establish and enforce drafting standards, layering, naming and drawing numbering across all projects; plan scope and allocate work across the design team; chair design and model reviews with clients and drive clash resolution to closure; interface with process, structural, civil and stress disciplines and with vendors on equipment data; and mentor design and graduate engineers as the team scales.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience creating piping specifications and catalogues from scratch — not solely working within specs someone else configured. This is the single requirement we will not compromise on.
- Demonstrated configuration of ISO styles to produce annotation and BOM output to a defined client standard.
- Command of the relevant piping codes and layout practice for process plants.
- Multi-user project administration, including data management and model integrity across a team.
- Strong clash management discipline and structural coordination experience.
- Track record leading a design squad and delivering multi-drawing packages to client schedules.
- Experience in process, energy, oil and gas, chemical or biogas plant is strongly preferred.
