Not as a company, but as an engineering career — and the standards that career was held to are the ones IDAC India still works by.
Where the approach came from
Our technical director, Dr Kiran Bhagate, completed his PhD in Computational Mechanics at the University of Leeds in 2008, researching design sensitivity analysis and optimisation of composite laminates. He then spent his early career as an engineering analyst in the United Kingdom's consultancy sector, working on offshore oil and gas, nuclear, power generation, aerospace and marine projects for operators and EPC contractors.
That period shaped everything about how IDAC works. UK offshore and nuclear clients do not accept analysis on trust. A calculation is read by a certifying authority, an insurer and the client's own reviewer, and it has to survive all three. Engineers working in that environment learn to write analysis that can be interrogated — stated assumptions, sourced material data, justified boundary conditions, and results assessed against the code clause rather than a generic allowable.
He was admitted as a Chartered Engineer by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in 2013, and was subsequently appointed by NAFEMS as a Professional Simulation Engineer Assessor.
Why Pune
The practice was established in India to make that standard of work available at a cost base that clients could actually use at volume — not as a cheaper alternative, but as the same discipline delivered from a different place.
Twenty years on, the practice has delivered more than 900 projects across eleven countries and twelve industries, from a single office in Kothrud, Pune.
Where the practice is going
For most of its history IDAC checked designs other people produced. The Plant 3D practice, established in 2026, extends that into design ownership — producing the model as well as verifying it, held to the same review standard.
The logic is straightforward. Clients increasingly want one organisation accountable for whether the design works and for producing it. Splitting those across two firms adds an interface, and interfaces are where projects lose time.
