Design Engineer — Plant 3D / Piping
Most piping roles ask you to draft what somebody else decided. This one does not.
The role
You will route piping and model equipment and structures working independently from P&IDs, datasheets and plot plans. You will produce piping general arrangements, isometrics, nozzle orientation drawings and model-based material take-offs, and develop equipment layouts and plot plans with proper regard for operability, maintenance access and safety clearance.
You will run and resolve clash checks and issue clash reports to the discipline leads; apply piping specifications correctly and flag spec deviations, interference and constructability issues early rather than late; and check and guide the work of graduate engineers, taking responsibility for the quality of what gets issued.
What we are looking for
- Demonstrated ability to route piping to specification and produce clean, issue-ready isometrics.
- Practical understanding of piping layout for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, compressors and skid packages.
- Working knowledge of the relevant piping codes and of support philosophy.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, line lists, vendor general arrangements and civil and structural inputs without hand-holding.
- Familiarity with clash detection workflows; exposure to stress engineering interfaces is an advantage.
- An ownership mindset — able to carry a modelling scope to completion and defend it in a design review.
